Spaghetti Taco Night

March 31, 2010

Spaghetti Taco Night

Yesterday was a best day ever day. (Best day ever days happen a lot around here)!

It started with a great thrifting day.

Pin up faced dolls.

I wish I would have worn sunscreen in my teens so maybe I could have smooth porcelain like skin. (Yes I know the doll is plastic).
I thought about putting pasties on their naked breast but I figure fake plastic breast are common enough.

When I came upon an awesome stash of fabric I had a freak out moment.
It was as if someone had raided my fabric reservoirs and dropped them off at the store.
There was so much fabric that I owned or had owned at one time.

Odd doll faces.

For dinner Chris made spaghetti tacos ala iCarly.
We had a picnic in the living room and watched iCarly.

Spaghetti tacos were really, really yummy!

After dinner Oliver and Freya put on an amazing musical, dancing extravaganza
Freya planned and decorated all day for the program.

Freya uses a toilet paper holder as a mike stand and the wii mike.
I don't think we have used the mike with the wii.

Notice Freya's drawings taped to the TV armoire.
It was a super best day ever day!

Sewing, Sewing, Sewing

March 26, 2010

Sewing, Sewing, Sewing

I love sewing. It has been such a fun week making Freya cozy pants, super soft new pillowcases out of vintage sheets, and new Pauls.

Very soon you will be able to purchase a Paul of your own on Etsy.

I have wanted to open an Etsy store for awhile but my confidence needed a bit more fluffing to be ready to open my creations to everyone.

Freya and Oliver will have a hard time parting with all the Paul's but the Paul's are ready for a new home.

A new mushroom bellied Paul and new pillow cases.

Cozy Pants.

Goodies in the mail from Chicago.
The vintage sheets Shelly ( my vintage swap partner ) sent will make great cozy pants for me!
Freya is set with cozy pants through the spring and summer.
I need to find some manly looking sheet for Oliver and Chris.

Wow and entire blog about lounge wear! Awesome!

Spring Cleaning

March 23, 2010

Spring Cleaning

I am slowly getting my house in order so when the weather permits I can start digging in the yard.
Today I went through all the drawers and armoires refolding and recycling worn out clothes and putting up the heavy winter clothes.

My sister Katie loves when I do this because Teah gets Freya's too small dresses.

This dresser is my favorite thrift find - ever. ($15)

A fresh coat of paint, Home Depot wooded decals, a roll of vintage wallpaper and it looks like I paid much, much more than that.

Freya has nearly out grown it and it is such a large and specific piece of furniture that I am having a difficult time finding a new way to use it.

I dislike having to let it go and I feel silly for having such an attachment to a piece of furniture but I do.

I love opening it up and seeing all of Freya's beautiful dresses.

It was missing the back board so I thumb tack a bit of fabric to the back.
It works quite well.

Oliver's very large book collection moved from Freya's armoire to the downstairs into his very own bookshelf.

That made him very happy!

A few blogs ago I mentioned that I wanted to make a pair of gloves like the pair Alice wore in Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland.
These lovely striped socks belonged to my sister (her favorite) , she lent them to me one day while I was over to her house. I really intended to give them back but every time I went for socks they were the first pair I saw.
Now they have holes so I think I will turn them into Alice gloves.

Katie will likely ask to borrow them and I'll never get them back.

I bought these skull tee's last summer and fancied them up.
I plan to make a few more for the summer.

I would also like to make a few of these ruffly tee's.

For the time being I will make something necessary, like cozie pants for Freya.

We worked so hard this afternoon Freya passed out on the couch - with her socks on her hands.
I love productive days.

Nudie Vest

March 17, 2010

Nudie Vest

I saw a really great local band a few months ago named King Niko.
The front man, Ransom, is delightful.
I absolutely adore him.

For awhile now friends have been suggesting I make a Nudie suit.
Nudie was the guy that designed all those glittery, fancy cowboys suits in the '60's and '70's.

I am making Ransom a 'Nudie' vest.

It is a crazy amount of sequins and beads.
I really enjoying sewing them on one after the other after the other.
It is relaxing work.
I need to start looking for a thrifted suit vest.

It was a nice afternoon with Freya making bead necklaces for her friends and me sequin sewing.

I love crafternoons.
