Holiday Day 1 And A Book Giveaway

The kids are out of school until Tuesday so we have decided to take a mini holiday and travel to Vernal Utah aka Dinosaurland.
I have never blogged while on holiday but I am going to now.
I take so many photo's of the interesting things we see and do and after downloading them to the computer I rarely view them again.
I keep up my blog everyday.
It's my journal.
It will be nice to look back and remember this weekend easily.

We ate lunch at Chick's Cafe in Heber Utah

Awesome gunslinger painting

This is a pair of Latter Day Saints missionaries.
I was happy to over hear our waitress telling them that another patron had paid for their lunch.
They grinned from ear to ear.
Nice stories and nice people happen everyday.

We made a few stops on the way to Vernal.
This is Strawberry Reservoir.

Posters on the window of Chick's Cafe.
My family has been coming to Chick's for 35+ years.
(This photo is here to mark the distinction between the above body of water and the photos coming next).

Starvation Reservoir.
Starvation State Park.

Chris asking the park ranger for geocache information.
Every state park in Utah has a geocache.
( Notice the posters of indigenous fishes of Utah).

Free information about the area.
Both Oliver and Freya love to grab a few of these to read in the car.

Freya, Oliver and Chris searching for the geocache.

A pen (that didn't work) with a clip hook.
Courtesy of the great state of Utah!

There were several red ant hills in the area.
It was all absorbing to watch the ants working.

Was the stick here or did the ants place it there to create a sun dial?

Entry of first mound.

Entry of second ant hill.

I'm so grateful to be able to take a weekend off and travel will my family, even if is only to Vernal, Utah.
I'd like to host a book giveaway.
I bought this knitting book on impulse.
The projects are so beautiful and the photographs are so clear.

This winter I will learn to knit but I don't think I will ever knit as fantastically as you would need to make these socks.

A few of my favorites below.

Leave a comment if you would like this book.
I will draw a winner Tuesday night.
Have an awesome weekend!
P.S Check out my friend Julie's blog. She lives in London and spends quite a bit of time in Sweden.
She is hosting Tuesday Through the Window. There are a lot of participants through out the world. It's really interesting.myblogswedishouse.blogspot.com
(Julie recently taught me how to post a link on my blog).

  2. Helloooo Camille

Your always go to visit such interesting places...
I love this post. What a nice story...how cool is that, someone picked up those young men's bill in the restaurant.
I am glad you find ant's soo interesting...I think they are soo fascinating to watch and so clever, in the forest in Sweden we have big 'carpenter' ants that love the wet damp and rotting wood of the forest floor.

That book looks wonderful, I have never seen footless socks-brilliant and some of the others are soo pretty and look a little complicated to knit.

I will put a giveaway button on my sidebar so other people will know about too. What a generous giveaway.

Have a great weekend with your family
    LOVE PEACE enJOY

  3. Can I copy a couple of the pages before you give it to someone? That's all I need, it's not like I'll have time to knit for the next several years.
