I'm In Love With A Stuffed Rabbit

Meet Abby.
I made this softie for my niece but I don't think Freya and I will be able to part with her.
Abby is 100% hand sewn and took seven hours to complete.
I'll get faster. The first of every new project takes more time.
She was very fun to make and came together fairly easy.

As with every new project I love, I want to make a dozen of them.

The pattern is in Kata Golda's Hand-Stitched Felt.

There are adaptations to make a bear or a mouse softie too.

I would like to share a few things I am grateful for lately.

Finger Puppets And Art Class

I finished some gifts for a couple girls named Tessa and Laney.



I embroidered their names right on the wool so there will be no confusion as to whom it belongs. I'm thinking of putting my name on everything I own.

I really, really liked making these puppets and their bed roll.

It's all hand work so it's a nice take along or watch a movie project.
I found the idea and pattern in Kata Golda's book Hand-Stitched Felt.

While working on these puppets I watched the following movies:

Tonight Freya taught her first art class.

Yesterday we had to sign up.

Sign up requires your actual birth date, your name printed and your signature.

Freya was very prepared to teach our first lesson.

On a paper plate she had written our names and drawn a picture of us.

The class assignment was to draw a picture of our self on the plate.

Grandma Billie Day Plus Randomness

Early yesterday morning Chris and I went to Freya's school to see her and her classmates receive an award for their art work.
It was early and fun.



Since the day was young I decided to take a movie and some hand sewing to Grandma Billies. (Grandma Billie taught me everything I know about sewing).
With 20 minutes of Bridget Jones's Diary left she decided we needed to go Christmas shopping for her great-grand children (She has eleven).
It was fun Christmas shopping with her.
Afterward Chris met us from work at Chilis and grandma treated us to lunch.
Grandma and I love Chilis chips and salsa.
It is sooo salty!

Later in the evening Freya and I worked on a family school project.
Chris and Oliver provided their input.
Freya and I had an awesome time fluffing up the turkey.



It's great eh?

Tonight I worked on a baby gift.
I have been forever saving this fabric for just the right project.
It is fun to finally work with it.
( It get tired of using fun, awesome, lovely, great as adjectives. But, 'It is terrific to finally work with this fabric' or 'It's fantastic and sublime to finally work with this fabric' sounds so over the top).

I like this fabric.

Baskets, Lots Of Baskets

Tonight Freya and I re-laced her high tops so they can slip easily onto her feet.
Before this Freya had no desire to wear them. They were just too difficult to put on.
It only took six months to find a solution to this problem.
None the less I say well done!







Last Saturday Freya went to a classmates birthday party.
It was held at a local party, rides, roller skate rink, pizzeria, games place.
Hollywood Connections to be exact.
While Freya played with her girl friends I played Skee Ball.
I really rock Skee Ball.
With my 450 tickets I 'bought' 110 duck erasers. (10 dollars in tokens).
Pretty awesome!



Today and last week I have spent my sewing time making baskets.
Lots of baskets.
Fortunately (or maybe not) most of my family members don't own a computer or don't read my blog.
I can safely share my Christmas gift progress.

I'm on task for my gift giving and that makes me very happy!

A Good Day

A Good Day

I love beginning a new month.
And it was a very nice day.

I'm going to jump back to October for a bit.
During the month of October my friend Julie hosted Tuesday Through the Window on her visually beautiful and well written blog. http://myblogswedishouse.blogspot.com/
It was interesting and great to see a store front window in London piled with fresh bread and trees blooming in Argentina.
She invited me to participate and though I took the photographs I didn't post them .
I do feel bad that I neglected it and I hope Julie will host Tuesday Through the Window again.

These window photos were taken from the car on our day trip to Filmore Utah in August.

A friend of Chris' from high school raises dairy cows at her farm in Filmore and was very kind and excited to show us around.

The next photos were taken on October 13 from my east kitchen window.

I live on a main street and my street has a light rail station two blocks from my house.

(Which is super awesome and crappy).

I enjoy watching the foot traffic pass by my house. (Most of the time).

Meeting up with friends in black on the corner.

I am grateful everyday for the Wasatch Mountains.

The view from my kitchen window changes everyday.

This is the last dress I will be making for Freya for this school year.

The fabric, pattern and buttons are vintage.

I bought the vintage pattern at my thrift store along with the pattern for yesterdays dress.

The thrift stores in Utah have a lot of patterns.

Most of the time they are complete.

If I get one home that's not all there I use it for funky smooth gift wrap.

I'm pretty sure this is a run on blog by now but I have one more item to share.

I made this simple skirt as a birthday gift for Freya's classmate.

I call it the Lizzie pattern from my own brain.

It makes me super happy when one of Freya's classmates asks me if I will make them a skirt for their birthday.

Freya's School Clothes: Nearly Finished

Is it only me or was this a too long Halloween weekend?
It was busy. Too busy.
Traditional holidays are excedingly over bounds.

Freya's schools are almost finished.
Our trip to Vernal Utah set my October 15th goal a bit behind.
(In a great way of course)
