This afternoon Chris made Cincinnati Chili.
It was very delicious and made the whole house smell of cinnamon.
Chris is going to guest blog and give you the recipe.
Hello friends of Camille's blog. I picked up this recipe on a postcard while on a business trip in Cincinnati. Here are the instructions:
1 quart water
2lbs. lean ground beef
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cumin seed or ground cumin
2 small onions, chopped
1 tsp. Worcestershire (pronounced "woostersher") Sauce
1 toe garlic or 1/8 tsp garlic powder
2 tbsp. chili powder
1 tsp. black powder
1/2 tsp. red or chili pepper
1 tbsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. allspice
1 6-0z. can tomato paste
1 1/2 tbsp. cider vinegar
3 large bay leaves
DIRECTIONS:
Crumble raw (do not brown) ground beef into water. Add all ingredients. Bring to boil, then simmer for 3 hours. Remove garlic and bay leaves. Add whole red peppers (if desired) for spicier taste.
SERVING SUGGESTION:
Serve hot chili over cooked white rice or spaghetti, topped with grated, cheddar cheese.
We decorated for Halloween last night.

Great photos and wonderful Halloween decor. I would love to know where you got your vintage boo sign. Love it!
ReplyDeleteHi Jeni
ReplyDeleteI bought the boo sign at Engh Nursery in Midvale two years ago. It was a piece from the Bethany Lowe Collection. It would be easy to make! A Crafternoon maybe?
