A Little Kindness Goes A Long Way - Depeche Mode

The weather in Midvale, UT finally dried up enough for me to plant my Grandma Billie's Mothers Day gift.
Freya and grandma watched Beauty and the Beast while I planted.
When it was time to go home Freya wanted to stay with grandma.
Grandma Billie said yes and they played together the whole afternoon.
One day I will tell you about her.
She is the woman I admire most in the world.

The geraniums I planted for her last year got huge.
I'll post photo's later in the season.

A very wonderful thing happened this week.
A very nice friend sent me a thank you gift in the mail.
It is one of my best gifts ever.
Not only have I drooled over this book for a bit now and it was a complete surprise I found instant inspiration.
You should really checkout Imene's blog. It is honest, inspiring and witty.

The book and the back of the bag.

The front of the bag.
I have been saving this needlepoint for years waiting for just the right inspiration.
The needlepoint is around 80 years old.

Oliver modeling the finished bag.

More bag modeling.

And the outdoor pillows are finished.
I am really happy that the pillows slips are washable.

Things This Week

It has been a tough week.
There is a huge news story in Utah about a murdered 4 year old boy.
I won't go into detail but his mother and stepfather are suspected of torture and murder.
If you want more information google 'Ethan Stacy' .
If you don't want to feel sick and crappy, don't google.

The last several days I have unconsciously put everything aside and have held , kissed and played with Oliver and Freya.
More books, more play pretend and Freya telling me "You love me too much mom."
In an odd way I feel like I am holding Ethan. I am comforting him and I want him to know he is safe and protected.
RIP Ethan you are loved.

Today was Oliver and Freya's end of year school carnival.

Oliver with his friends from grade 1-6.
Next year they will go to different Jr. high schools.

Snow coned Freya.

Freya asked if I would please post her baby photos on my blog.

And a new pillow.
One more to go.

A Cheshire Moon

There is a Cheshire moon in the sky tonight.

We all stepped outside to admire the happy moon and the night.

Cheers to a new week!

A Pillow #2

A Pillow #2

I made another pillow today.

I would never use black to decorate inside but I love it outside.

I don't mind the dandy lions in my flowerbed.

We set up the horseshoes.

The Lady Bug Experiment
Day four:
I poured the last of the pint onto the ivy.
The ladybugs better start laying eggs.
The aphids are spreading and winning.

A Pillow

A Pillow

I have been wanting to sew a pillow out of this black linen skirt.
I also used other fabric I already had.

The down pillow filler was 7$ at Ikea.

The Lady Bug Experiment
Day three: Several ladybugs are setting up home in the ivy.

Bird Nest #2

Bird Nest#2

These are the baby birds nesting in my aphid infested ivy.

Baby birds are really ugly.
I wonder if their beaks are so bright so that mama bird knows where to put the food.
