The Rouge Rabbit Gang: Introducing Linda

April 30, 2010

The Rouge Rabbit Gang: Introducing Linda

Linda is Paul's wife.
Linda is carnivorous and therefore quite feared within the rabbit community.
It makes perfect sense that Linda is the 'muscle' of the RR Gang.

Over the years Linda's diet has caused contention within their marriage. ( Two years this August)
As of this writing Paul and Linda are doing great and expecting their 147th child.

Linda is working on her first novel.
'How To Stew A Rabbit: A Cautionary Tale'

Currently Linda is involved in a plagiarism lawsuit with Warner Bros. and Bugs Bunny.
(Linda is made with Weeks Dyed Wool, vintage mother of pearl buttons from my great grandma and antique lace salvage from a pillowcase. The gem is a vintage earring).

Live Tonight: Oliver and Freya

Freya debuted two new songs she worked on this week.

'Flowers Shaped Like Moons'
and
"Sunshine, Sunshine come to me'

My Crab Apple tree looks lovely right now.
How the buds are pink and the flower blossoms white, always fascinates me.

Used Oliver + S Patterns For Free And Wips

April 27, 2010

Used Oliver + S Patterns For Free And Wips

I whipped up several 'Pauls' for travel along projects for the summer.
I really enjoy having something to work on in the car, at parks and while visiting with family.

I'm not a photographer by any means.
If I worried about the composition of my photo's or the proper lighting and such I would never post.
Same with my writing.
I wish I could write beautiful, thoughtful posts but again, if I over thought it too much I wouldn't blog so I keep it very simple.

Which brings me to the point of this not very good photo of the new quilt I am working on.
I think all of the square shadows look cool.
It's a very squarely photo.

Little cross stitched squares to add texture and interest.

After much thought I've decided to pass along some of my Oliver + S patterns.
I purchased most of them twice before I wizened up and started making templates.

The size the pattern is cut is marked on the front.

First come, first pick.
One per person.
Leave your e-mail and the pattern name and size that you would like.
I hope you enjoy making them as much as I did.
P.S It is great to have a community where I can pass along things that someone will use and appreciate.

Freya's ABC Book

April 25, 2010

Freya's ABC Book

Today was a best day ever day.

I started a new quilt which will included cross stitched squares.
I haven't cross stitched in years and I rediscovered it has a very different rhythm from free hand stitching.
It takes a lot of concentration.
My brain hurts and I have a headache from counting those small, small stitches.

The best part of my new project is I was able to sit and visit with my Grandma Billie for several hours today.

The kids and I chatted with grandma and watched a basketball game on t.v.
I hadn't watched a basketball game in six years and I actually enjoyed it.
My Grandma Billie is a huge Utah Jazz fan and has watched them play for 20 plus years.
She gets so excited when they are winning and I'm so happy watching her be so excited.

I bought a new book today.
My grandma gave me money!
I learned a long time ago not to refuse money from my grandma because it hurts her feelings.
I happily take it now and spend it quickly!

I would've never thought of making felt gift tags.
Now I want to make million of them.

I just realized it is illegal to post these pictures.
I won't do it again.

The best part of my day is that I found Freya's ABC book that I thought I'd left in a hotel room.

I started and nearly finished this book while I was pregnant with Freya. (Six years ago.)
I took the whole book on vacation and had intended to embroider the alphabet on the back page, then I lost it.
I have had terrible nightmares about losing this book and I have beat myself up wondering why I took the whole damn book just to work on a couple pages.
Today I found it in an old suitcase I was taking to the thrift store.
I can't describe my excitement.
There are many, many hours of sewing in this book.
When I look at it now I am amazed at how my sewing techniques have improved over the years.

I chose very simple images to represent the letters.
I didn't want to sew anything too complicated to cut out.

I accidentally deleted the "Y".
Y is for yo-yo.
'Z' for zip code? I chose images I could easily cut out.
Tomorrow I am going to take it to the awning store to have it grommeted.
I am so happy Freya's ABC book has been found.
It was a best day ever day.

Baby Gifts/Thrifting

Baby Gifts/Thrifting

Freya and I stopped at our thrift store and consignment store today.
At first I passed on the globe because it was $7 but when I went to the consignment store where I bought the lady vase, they had a newer globe priced at $38 dollars. Seven dollars suddenly seemed cheap.

I plan to put Jemima on my mantel.
The globe will go in Olivers room I would like to start a collection of globes.

My best girlfriend Charlotte had a baby boy a few weeks ago and I have been hard at work making one of a kind things for Jensen.

Two of my favorite squares.

The yo-yo hot air balloon was a surprise idea.

Hand stitched onesie and a Paul.

Also I have been busy packaging mini banners.
Most winners have not contacted me. I really want to send them off
Check post date April 18 for winners list.
