Cafe Curtain

One cafe curtain finished.
It is not really a cafe curtain but I think 'drape' or 'window treatment' sounds silly.
Besides 'cafe' is fun to say.

I have a few more sewing projects almost ready to share.

There are two types of people in this world, Sharks and Jets.
And I believe we could all come together with a sing-a-long and fancy foot work.
Really.
How can you dislike someone who sings and dances for you?

Lighting Obsession



It was spring like today and the chickens have backyard baseball on their mind.

Late afternoon sun in my room and the daylight stays longer.

I have been hand binding my cafe curtains.

One hundred and eighty eight inches down.
One hundred and thirty inches to go.

I think I have mentioned my obsession with novelty lamps.

I collect lamps like some women collect shoes.

Actually I only own five pair of shoes.

Chris is the shoe fiend in our family.

I won't tell how many pairs he owns.

I spent many hours one night decoupaging this shade.

My dad and I have a 'crafternoon' day planned this Friday.

He is going to teach me how to rewire lamps.

And soon I hope to have two beautiful cafe curtains to share.

Embellishing Tip

I love to embellish everything.
Embellishments can hide so many little mistakes.

I love fancy ribbon.
I've indulged in some very expensive ribbon.

Tip

When you can't finish then ends of a ribbon by burning you need to sew them so they won't unravel.
To sew: Fold ends of ribbon (or lace) 1/4 inch under
With matching thread sew with tiny blanket stitches

Can you see the stitches?

They are very tiny.

Antique Store Finds and Cafe Curtains

I found this lovely lamp with its original shade for 14 dollars at my favorite antique store.

For a few dollars more I picked up this crocheted lace and doilies.

I have started some cafe style curtains for my newly painted bedroom.

Fini!

It is a good thing that Chris lives with me because I am so in love with my newly painted bedroom that I would leave him to live in it.

Good painting tunes.

I rolled the first coat of color Monday night.

Second roll of color Tuesday night.
I used 'South Castle' egg shell from Kwals.

Photos from last night.

The room looks so warm in the evening.

Today I hung mirrors and paintings.

I have some great ideas in mind for new window dressings.
